For just £1 a week, you could win £25,000 in the brand new WVS lottery! But the best bit is that you’ll also be helping provide lifesaving veterinary care to animals in need all around the world.
Playing the WVS lottery could lead to a big win for you, but it’s a guaranteed win for animals in need all around the world. Your tickets help provide lifesaving rescues, veterinary care and rehoming for animals who have no-one else to turn to.
Animals like Toon, a ‘community dog’ from near the Doi Suthep temple in northern Thailand. With no official owner and with the community relying on the now non-existent tourist trade for money, it can be difficult for dogs like Toon to receive the veterinary care they need.
Fortunately, the WVS clinic in Chiang Mai is on hand to provide free veterinary care for any animal which comes through our doors. Toon was brought to the centre with a nasty infected bite wound but our expert vets suspected something more sinister. After a quick round of testing, their fears were proved true – the wound was part of an aggressive tumour.
Our vets wasted no time in operating to remove the tumour and stop its spread. They also needed to treat a blood parasite infection which had flagged during the tests.
Toon is now making a great recovery from his ordeal, and people from his community regularly call the centre for an update on their sweet and friendly neighbourhood dog. We’re looking forward to returning him home, safe in the knowledge that his clean bill of health will allow him to live a happy life once more.
