Some things should never be thrown away. That's why we made sure Nardo wasn't.
At 20 years old, Nardo had given a lifetime of work. Then he was abandoned — left in an open landfill site, in terrible condition and unable to walk. His body was covered in open wounds from ill-fitting harnesses, and his tongue so badly injured by a poorly fitted bit that he could no longer eat.
He had never stopped working. He had never let anyone down. And when he finally couldn't carry on, he was discarded.
We don't think that's right. And we don't think you do either.
Working in Argentina with Caballos de Quilmes (CQMS), we found Nardo just in time. His wounds are now treated, and he has a safer, happier future. But for every Nardo we reach, there are thousands more still carrying loads they shouldn't bear, with equipment that doesn't fit and owners who simply don't know better.
DonateWhen you stand with WVS, you help us get to working horses and donkeys before they reach breaking point. You help us put the right equipment in the hands of owners who want to do right by their animals. You help us make sure that a lifetime of loyalty is never repaid with abandonment.
Any amount you can give will help make sure the next Nardo gets found in time. Some things should never be thrown away. Help us make sure hardworking horses and donkeys aren't abandoned.
