Luke's September 2019 Update!

Another amazing month! It’s a very exciting time at WVS and we’ve had a hugely productive month. As always, thanks to our awesome supporters. Without you, none of this would be possible. Parcels and Teams A total of 101 parcels were sent out this month, with a value of £12,274.90. All parcels were sent out directly to charities and animals in need. We’ve run two surgical courses in each of Ooty, Thailand and Goa, with two additional seminars in Thailand. Meanwhile, teams have been sent to Peru, South Africa, Uganda, Botswana, Bolivia, Malawi, Tanzania, Thailand, Cambodia and India.

Ooty The 28th September marked the 9th anniversary of the WVS Ooty ITC (as well as World Rabies Day!). In that time we’ve spayed over 30,000 dogs which illustrates the hard work of all involved. I can’t wait for the 10th birthday next year. Goa Our adoption camps were a huge hit in Goa this month with 47 dogs adopted in September. Congratulations to our team for such initiative and effort in promoting this aspect of the work. Aside from adoptions, 896 animals were sterilised and 372 animals have been treated at the Hicks ITC.

Thailand It’s been an incredibly busy month for WVS Thailand as the team headed over to Bangkok to attend a World Rabies Day event also attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn so we were delighted to receive an invitation. Tanzania Our Africa Projects Director, Dagmar Mayer, ran the Mafia Island project this month. In the 11 day project, 146 animals have been vaccinated and sterilised which is awesome. Overall, it was a very challenging mission in many respects, but the team adapted in the most resilient way it’s been a great success.
