Luke's May 2019 Update

Luke's May 2019 Update

Another month has raced by! We’ve had so much going on in May! We deployed teams to Thailand, Myanmar, Grenada, Botswana, South Africa, India, Thailand and Armenia!! We also ran Indian surgical training courses in Goa and Ooty alongside an international course and several outreach projects in Thailand. None of this is possible without supporters like you spurring us on and helping us run so many fantastic projects!

Goa Team Goa completed 861 sterilisations this month with 512 additional treatment cases attended by the team at the clinic, 86 remote rescues and 49 animals adopted! Outstanding work! Ooty The WVS India team have been running a rabies surveillance workshop for public health officials alongside their work at the ITC! They also had some challenging cases arrive at the clinic including a dog that had been bitten by a leopard!

Thailand It’s been a huge month for the Thai team. The highlight has been three weeks spent in Myanmar running the proof of concept sterilisation and rabies project and then a week on outreach!!! I’ve had an amazing week with the team and feel completely inspired by their incredible work and determination to champion the values of WVS and help so many animals. Armenia A huge thanks to Pro Paws and Elsik Azizian who worked tirelessly to set up the project in Yerevan. Andy led the initial WVS team and the hope is we can work under the guidance of the Mayor and the city and showcase that humane population control is a viable and economical alternative to culling! Parcels We sent out an awe-inspiring number of aid parcels this month – 102 parcels of medication have gone to charities and animals in need!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luke
