In Ecuador, there are remote areas with no access to veterinary care which leads to conflict between people, pets, and wildlife. By supporting this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge fundraiser, you can provide equipment for an outreach clinic, helping to reduce overpopulation and engage with communities to improve the health and welfare of all animals.
Nature is amazing. From the smallest insect to the largest mammal, everything has its place. But, too often, we see the delicate balance of nature disrupted. Communities and their pets can be incredibly damaging to neighbouring wildlife, disrupting ecosystems, introducing diseases, and causing habitats to become overwhelmed and overpopulated. In some areas of Ecuador this is amplified by a lack of veterinary care, meaning companion animal numbers increase and diseases spread easily.
Our team of vets, based in Ecuador, are running outreach clinics for remote mountain communities to ensure they have access to free treatment for their animals, including spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations. This will reduce the population, prevent encroachment on precious habitats, and stop the spread of disease. Your support will buy the equipment needed for an outreach clinic, helping to repair the delicate balance between wildlife and communities through veterinary care.
"Our outreach clinics provide local vets with the skills to keep companion animals healthy and prevent the spread of disease to wildlife. Whilst supporting the training of Ecuadorian vet students, we are providing access to vet care in remote mountain communities that would otherwise go without." Luke Gamble, CEO and Founder, Worldwide Veterinary Service
"This experience was particularly enriching for me. I challenged myself by rotating through various areas such as surgery, anaesthesia, preparation, postoperative care, and reception, significantly expanding my skills and knowledge. The contribution of experienced professionals was invaluable." Milena, 5th year vet student at a previous outreach clinic in Ecuador
