Young Vets Step into Spring at WVS' First Activity Day

Wed 24th Apr 2019

This month we celebrated the first of our Young Vets Club Activity Days!!

Launched at the end of last year, our Young Vets Club is designed to inspire the next generation of animal lovers and educate children about animal welfare issues and the work of WVS all across the globe. This Spring, we were excited to introduce an activity day for both members and non-members of Young Vets Club to get involved with. 36 children joined us at Gorse Farm in Fordingbridge for a fun-filled day packed with animal-themed activities!

Split into four groups, the children rotated around four activities; a visit to neighbouring Pilgrims Veterinary Practice, Luke's very own practice, to see how a vet practice works and to hear from the Head Nurse; an animal handling experience to get up close to a pony, two donkeys, a ram, a ewe and her lamb, and hold some young chicks and ducklings; a recycled crafts activity and animal-themed games! A lot of fun was had by all and we're so grateful to the team at Pilgrims and Gorse Farm, and all our enthusiastic volunteers who helped lead the sessions and supervise the children!

We'll be looking to hold another activity day in the near future and can't wait to see more young animal lovers get involved! These children could be our vets and vet nurses of the future and we're excited to help them learn more about the animals we share our planet with!!

Keep an eye on our social media for announcements about the next activity day and if you'd like to sign your child up to be part of the adventure and become a member of Young Vets Club, click here
