WVS Thailand treats the animals of Cat Island

Fri 6th Apr 2018

This month WVS Thailand was proud to send our amazing outreach team to the beautiful island of Koh Yao Noi, affectionately known as Cat Island. The team were to set up and conduct a mobile sterilisation and vaccination clinic for the island’s large population of cats.

After setting up the clinic on day one, the team were able to carry out their duties with the assistance of the helpful and enthusiastic local population who didn’t hesitate to bring their animals for treatment and help the team gather any strays.

Over a four-day clinic the team sterilised and vaccinated over 300 cats and even a couple of dogs that made their way to the clinic! An outstanding achievement for just a few days!

WVS Thailand is committed to carrying out mobile clinics such as this in the most isolated areas of the country where veterinary treatment is hard to find or too expensive for people to afford. Controlling the stray and owned animal population through sterilisations and vaccinations is a key part of our long-term strategy to provide professional veterinary assistance in all areas of Thailand, especially in regions of low income or areas lacking in private clinics for the population.

Every animal deserves the right to proper medical care and attention. WVS is treating more and more animals each year thanks to the support of local donors and volunteers. Without your support we simply wouldn’t be able to make such a huge difference to the people and animals in these areas.

Our thanks go to the people of Koh Yao Noi for their co-operation and dedication to the animal population on the island. We would also like to thank YOU, our supporters for all your continued support. By working together, we are changing the lives of thousands of animals for the better!
