WVS is proud to now be providing a sustainable veterinary presence in Zambia.
We are supporting Game Rangers International, a fantastic charity that supports communities living around the Kafue National Park to manage the natural resources of the area through support to wildlife management and protection and community outreach and education.
The project, which is a collaboration between the two charities, is called Wildlife Veterinary Project.
WVS is also currently building a new veterinary clinic in the Mukambi area.
In the first few months our outreach veterinary team, headed by Dr Sylvain Hawawini has been involved in projects such as lion reintroductions, giraffe post mortems, the clinical examination of orphan elephants, the rehabilitation of bush babies, and Pangolin Rescue and reintroduction (who are among some of the most endangered animals on the planet).
The project comes after discussing the need to provide a much-needed support in the field of wildlife veterinary support.
