Sterilised and Vaccinated: WVS' lifesaving work for street dogs in Goa

Fri 8th Sep 2017

Our team from the Hicks ITC in Goa have recently been working on an outreach project to help the stray dogs who live on Varca Beach.

With assistance from local project No More Puppies and staff from the Taj Exotica Goa Hotel, a decision was made to control the growing population of beach dogs in the area. Taj Exotica uses the leftover food from the hotel to feed the pack of 70 dogs on the beach every day and No More Puppies had previously visited the beach to check the dogs’ health and sterilise as many as they could.

To complete this mission to treat all the dogs, WVS stepped in to lend a helping hand.

The WVS teams caught, sterilised and vaccinated every dog in the pack on Varca beach before safely releasing them.

Through teamwork such as this, the population of this free-roaming pack are now much healthier and the number can now be controlled and managed so that these dogs and the people of Varca beach can live together in harmony.

This is just one way that we are working together to achieve the ultimate goal of healthy dogs and safer beaches in Goa!
