Dear supporters and fellow vets,
In 2012, a hospital in Blantyre, Malawi reported the highest incidence of child rabies deaths from a single institution in the whole of Africa. Over the last few years – that number has been increasing and this May, we’re going to change that.
But we need your help.....
Vaccinations are a key part of the solution – but so is supporting the local veterinary infrastructure. The BSPCA is a wonderful NGO – and the only place for animals to turn to in the whole region – but they are unequipped and understaffed.
Over the next three years WVS wants to turn this organisation into a hub to champion animal welfare. Linking with the Malawian Government and their veterinary training programme, sending regular teams of vets and vet nurses to support and train the local personnel - we can make a world of difference – but first, we need to kit out the clinic.
If you have any spare/out dated equipment that you could donate, we are shipping out a container in just 2 weeks and we need to fill it. To help, please take a look at the list on our website of what we need, which we will be crossing off as we go along!
Equally, if your practice would be interested in fundraising for a specific item on our wish list, it would be amazing to hear from you.
United, we can do anything and this project will be one of the best, ever.
Please join Team Malawi, let’s save some lives and make this a winner!
