Join the WVS Zambezi Canoe Challenge in Zambia

Zambezi Canoe Challenge

In September 2017, WVS supporters will be taking part in a once in a lifetime experience: canoeing down the Zambezi river, whilst taking in the most incredible wildlife. There will also be a unique opportunity to visit an elephant orphanage in Lusaka that WVS supports, where many of these animals are rehabilitated, ready for their eventual release back to the wild.

Zambia is the home of the mighty Victoria Falls, abundant wildlife and the awe-inspiring Zambezi River. The Zambezi is Africa’s fourth largest river running from central Africa to the Indian Ocean. Its power has carved the spectacular Victoria Falls and the zigzagging Batoka Gorge. The Lower Zambezi National Park covers an area of 4,092 sq. km and has spectacular opportunities to get close to game wandering in and out of the Zambezi channels.

The challenge will take place between 2 - 10 September 2017. No previous canoeing experience is required (although this would be a bonus) but a good level of general fitness is recommended as the days on the Zambezi river can be long and tiring.

The total cost is £2,995 per person which  would need to be fundraised for, plus a registration fee of £275.

This Includes:

  • Return flights from London to Lusaka (including all airport taxes & any airline imposed fuel surcharges)
  • All transfers and transport in Zambia
  • Accommodation throughout (tents on canoe expedition, basic lodge in Lusaka)
  • All meals and bottled water throughout
  • Local canoe guides and full support crew
  • 24-hour emergency support in Zambia and the UK
  • National Park fees
  • Different Travel Tour Leader
  • Pre-departure trek briefing
  • A donation to WVS
