Thailand is one of the worlds most popular destinations and it is easy to see why.
It offers an irresistible combination of breath-taking natural beauty, inspiring temples, renowned hospitality, exquisite cuisine and ruins of fabulous ancient kingdoms. From the lush jungles of Chiang Mai and the verdant limestone islands of the Andaman Sea, to the pulse pounding bazaars of Bangkok and the tranquil villages moored along the Mekong River, the ‘land of smiles’ offers something for everyone.
At WVS, we think that Thailand is the perfect location for our 2018 Adventure Travel Challenge which takes place between 27th October and the 7th November 2018. There will also be a fantastic opportunity for trip participants to visit the WVS Thailand International Training Centre, where we provide essential veterinary care to animals in need. Plus, you will also get to visit the WVS Dog Shelter in Chiang Mai and 'New Hope' where you will see our amazing dog behaviourist Ian help dogs with challenging behaviours to improve their chance of being rehomed. You will get a chance to play with the shelter dogs and take them out for walks too!.
The trek takes place in the beautiful hills of Northern Thailand in the Mae Hong Son area and is classed as 'challenging' for someone of a good fitness level due to the hot and humid climate and uneven terrain in the jungle. Participants will have to carry their own backpack containing spare clothes, toiletries and water.
An ideal candidate for the trek would be someone who enjoys trying something new, experiencing different cultures and leaving their comfort zone and that also wants to raise money for WVS!
You will be passing through remote 'Karen' tribal villages and staying in traditonal 'Karen' homestay local accommodation each night, which will give you an authentic insight into the lifestyle of the locals. You don't have to have 'trekked' before, but you do need to have good levels of fitness however.
You will be accompanied by professional English-speaking local guides who have an excellent knowledge of hiking and culture in the region and are first aid trained too.
You must be 18+ to participate on this trek unaccompanied. It may be possible to participate if you are 16 or 17 years old but you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit.
There is limited availability, so to avoid disappointment book your place today or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
The total cost is £3,285 per person which you would need to fundraise for, plus you will also need to pay a registration fee of £275.
